- January 11, 2010 - President Obama's approval ratings still continue to drop according to a latest national poll, hitting yet another record low for him.
F: When will the freefall stop? It does not look like anytime soon. A CBS News poll -- conducted Jan. 6-10 -- found that 46 percent approve of how Obama is handling his job while 41 percent say they disapprove of the president's performance. A Rasmussen poll also shows a new low for President Obama. The American people want change.....this time it is change from Obama. Luckily for the President, he still has time to turn things around, but time is running out quickly.
- Sept 1, 2009 - President Obama's slipping approval ratings reaches historic proportions, hitting the below 50% point more quickly than most of his predecessors did.
F: Obama now holds the record for the third-fastest drop to below majority approval (50%) since World War II, behind the declines for Gerald Ford (in his third month as president) and Bill Clinton (in his fourth month). In contrast, Obama's most recent predecessor, George W Bush took 36 months (3 years) before his approval ratings dropped below 50%. Looking on the bright side, Obama can take comfort in knowing he can turn it around. Bill Clinton, although having the second fastest drop below 50% of any president since World War II, did rebound to leave office with one of the highest approvals ratings in Presidential history.
- July 25, 2009 - President Obama's approval ratings have now dropped to below 50% for the first time since taking office. According to a new Gallup poll, his approval rating now stands at 49% with a 51% disapproval rating.
F: Astonishly Obama's approval ratings have plummeted in just six months. Americans are starting to be quite concerned about his liberal policies. He is quickly losing his rock star status. And with his controversial healthcare plan looming, look for his approval ratings to drop even further.
- July 9, 2009 - President Obama's approval ratings are slipping fast according to a new Gallup poll. His poll numbers have now dropped nearly 15 points and are at the lowest level since he has been in office as President.
D: This is not good news for the Obama camp. Although Obama's approval ratings are still high at 57%, the polls numbers have gone down considerably. There is now a consistent downward trend. Americans are getting impatient with Obama. His policies have not helped the economy, unemployment is rising, spending is at an all time high, government is bigger then ever before and Obama has been heavily criticized for what many call his "American apology tours" while speaking overseas.
- March 13, 2009 - President Obama's approval rating is lower than George W Bush's at the same point. According to a Gallup poll Obama's net approval rating at the one month point of his presidency (+39) is lower than George W. Bush’s was (+41) at the same point in his first term. At this point Obama has a 63% approval and 24% disapproval compared to Bush’s 62% approval and 21% disapproval
D: For the Obama administration and his supporters this news is anything but positive. The idea that Bush has had a higher net approval rating than Obama at any point is unthinkable for many Obama supporters. Considering the immense propaganda and positive media coverage Obama received, this is indeed a shocking statistic. Especially comparing it to the notable anti-Bush sentiment many Americans had as a result of the disputed election of 2000. With such an advantage Obama should have had more impressive approval numbers. This leads to the question: Is Obama's policies starting to affect his popularity.
- January 30, 2009 - President Barack Obama's approval rating is at 68%. This is the highest approval rating in the last eight first- term predecessors (since JFK) according to a new Gallup poll.
A+: It is clear that the Obama camp has done a masterful job in winning over and convincing the American people. Based on historical Presidential polling, it will be almost impossible for Obama to keep up these high numbers. The question remains, will he sustain high approval ratings through his tenure as President? Only time will tell.
