- Jan 23, 2009 - President Obama reverses the Bush administration's ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option. Known as the "Mexico City Policy" , The Bush administration had banned U.S. taxpayer money from going to international family planning groups that either offer abortions or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion.
F: Abortion is, and always will be a touchy issue in America . And although both sides may bring up good arguments for and against abortion, the fact is, with this move, Barack has ensured U.S. tax payer money is supporting international abortion programs that many Americans disagree with. This is just another form of big government spending and lack of personal accountability. Spending tax payer's money on disputable abortion programs is questionable at best. It should also be noted that during his presidential campaign, President Obama promised the American people he would support policies to reduce abortions and he also promoted individual responsibility - this move does neither.
