- June 23, 2009 - Punching their fists into the air and shouting "Let's crush them!" some 100,000 North Koreans packed Pyongyang's main square for an anti-U.S. rally as the communist regime promised a "fire shower of nuclear retaliation" for any American-led attack. This comes during which North Korea is illgally sending a ship (named The Kang Nam, which has been charged of carrying illegal goods even in the past) believed to be carrying prohibited weapons to Burmao Burma.
F: President Obama has completely failed in any attempts to try and improve US-North Korea relations. Is anyone surprised (besides maybe Obama supporters) that Obama can not change the way North Korea has been acting. In fact, Kim Jong-il has been more embolded in his threats and actions against America since Obama took office. You can just imagine Ex-President George W Bush saying " I told you so".
- May 27, 2009 - North Korea threatened military action against U.S. (and South Korean) warships that are stationed in the Korean waters keeping watch of illegal activity. This comes just a couple of days after North Korea test-fired a nuclear bomb by shooting off six different missles in what President Obama called a "blatant violation" of international law. As the United Nations discusses how to set forth proper punishment, North Korea continues to ignore all United Nations sanctions.
F: The relations between North Korea and the United States have only intensified under President Obama. As predicted by many conservatives, Obama's diplomatic policy just does not work with callous dictators such as Kim Jong-il. Obama is learning quickly that there is no reasoning with someone of this caliber. Did President Obama honestly believe he would be able to convince rogue nations like North Korea to change their ways or did he just tell the American people what they wanted to hear during the Presidential election.
- April 14, 2009 - President Obama failed to get a binding U.N. resolution against North Korea for its recent act of defiance. In addition North Korea has become more audacious by ordering the U.N. weapons inspectors as well as the 4 U.S. inspectors to leave North Korea immediately. (behavior that is eerily similar to Saddam Hussein and Iraq) This included taking down cameras that were placed at the nuclear facilitiy. All inspectors complied. North Korea has also vowed never to return to the 6 party talks .
F: Up to this point Obama's attempt to convince America's enemies to see America in a different light has been futile. It is the same old story with North Korea. The Obama administration and it's supporters are quickly learning that when dealing with rogue nations such as North Korea it does not matter who is President. The Bush administration was heavlity criticized by many Obama supporters for "alienating" America from the rest of the world. But it is clear in this case, it is not America but North Korea who has continued to alienate itself. What will President Obama's next move be?
- March 5, 2009 - North Korea fired a rocket over Japan defying America, Japan and others who suspect the launch was cover for a test of its long-range missile technology. North Korea also violated the United Nations sanctions with the launching of this rocket. President Barack Obama warned the move would further isolate the communist nation. Lift off took place at 11:30 a.m. (0230 GMT) from the coastal Musudan-ri northeastern North Korea. Hours after the launch, North Korea declared it a success. An experimental communications satellite reached outer space in just over nine minutes and is orbiting, the state-run Korean Central News Agency said
D: Up to now President Obama has done no better than George W Bush in convincing America’s adversaries to change their ways. Although many expected improved foreign relations around the world, the fact is Obama will continue to have the same problems as the Bush administration in dealing with some of these nations. This time it is North Korea acting like business as usual. Once labeled as one of the ‘axis of evils” by the Bush administration, North Korea as ignored all warnings and pleas by President Obama. This move was a bold act of defiance against Obama as well as the United Nations. President Obama sounding like the Bush administration stated "North Korea has ignored its international obligations, rejected unequivocal calls for restraint and further isolated itself from the community of nations.” He urged Pyongyang to honor the U.N. resolutions and to refrain from further "provocative" actions. President Obama will need to take a stronger stance and harsher actions in dealing with North Korea moving forward.
