SPEAKING SKILLS
- February 1, 2009 – President Obama takes office as one of the most skilled speaking Presidents in American history. His presidential campaign was filled of electrifying, inspirational speeches that gave people around the world new hope and excitement. Obama's speaking skills played a significant role in his Presidential victory to the Whitehouse. Obama uses a teleprompter in almost every public presentation. This tool makes him more comfortable and confident which allows him to deliver effective performances.
A+: There is no arguing that President Obama has a unique gift in the way he can arouse large crowds of people through his speaking abilities. It was very effective persuading and convincing the mass public to support him and his ideas. However, will this ability also persuade foreign nation leaders to work more closely together with America in confronting the major issues that the world is facing?

Although President Obama is clearly in the elite when it comes to public speaking, he is not perfect. President Bush was heavily criticized for his presumed lack of speaking skills. Many accused Bush of being incompetent because of that. It is safe to say that President Obama is more articulate than Bush. However, not being overly articulate does not qualify someone as being incompetent. Will the same people who criticized George Bush for his verbal blunders do the same to President Obama? The reality is both President Barack Obama and former President George W Bush, like all other previous U.S. Presidents, are brilliant. They have accomplished more than most people can even dream of. Being in front of the camera as much as a U.S. President, it is inevitable that words will be slipped up. And so people should not be so harsh on our President when these rare mistakes happen.

Note:
When viewing these blunders, one must remember, imagine if it had been Bush?

President Obama Botches name of home of his beloved White Sox. "I do think that there's a different quality to what used to be Cominskey Field vs. Wrigley," President Obama told Bob Costas during an interview that aired during 2009 MLB All-Star Game.
The official name was Comiskey Park

2/2/10: At the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama pronounces Navy corpsmen as "corpse-men" instead of "kôrmen"

1/28/2009: On the way back to the Oval Office Tuesday, the President approached a paned window, instead of the actual door -- located a few feet to his right. (remember when Bush could not open the door in a 2005 press conference in Beijing? It received widespread and relentless media coverage)

Obama called Defense Secretary Robert Gates by wrong name on 2 different occasions. First "William Gates". Then Obama called him Ronald Gates at a Pentagon ceremony:

Obama bumps head:

Obama loses train of thought:

Obama makes "Special Olympics" joke:

Obama thinks "Austrian" is a language

"10,000 people died"...actually10 people died:

"George Bush's 4th Term".  President Bush only had 2 terms which is the maximum amount any U.S. President is allowed to serve:
